Claudio Gallardo
Born and raised in Patagonia, on the banks of BaseCamp`s home river, Río Palena. Claudio`s family owns the land at “the other bank”.
He joined BaseCamp in 2006 and over the past years has become one of the most important contributors to the project. Claudio is a man of 1001 talents. What he cannot do yet, he just learns.
He mastered the building of The TempleCamp in the winter of 2009; together with an assistant, he literally raised the whole lodge in less than four months, all while surviving the most brutal winter conditions in recent memory.
Not only a fabulous craftsman, Claudio is also a great fishing guide and boatman. He has been fishing the Palena his whole life, and became a fanatic fly fisherman over the past several years.
During the season, Claudio is the man who makes it all work. He arranges the logistics and makes Marcel’s crazy ideas work. His creativity to find solutions is beyond belief. Problems are a challenge for him, and he will figure out a way, no matter what.
